Sand casting with silver workshop - 30th Jan 2027

10-5pm

Come and learn all about sand casting with silver. I will probably digress and tell you all about lost wax casting as well, but hopefully it will give you a better undestanding of the processes.

Using a selection of everyday objects and interesting shapes, including buttons, ring blanks and assorted forms, you’ll explore how to create impressions in casting sand before casting them in silver to produce one-of-a-kind jewellery pieces.

Experiment with different shapes, textures and patterns, transforming your chosen objects into original designs. You could create a statement ring, a textured pendant or something completely different — the possibilities are endless!

With my guidance throughout the process, you’ll learn the basics of sand casting in silver and discover how this traditional technique can be used to create distinctive jewellery with character and personality.

No two castings are ever quite the same, making this a wonderful opportunity to experiment with a different jewellery-making technique and take home your own handmade silver creations.

This class will be limited to 4 students, to allow plenty of casting time.

If you have your own items you'd like to cast let me know beforehand just to make sure they're suitable for the process.

Silver its charged at £2.50 per gram, or you're welcome to bring your own scrap silver if you have any.

Refreshments

Tea and coffee will be provided, and I’ll get some sweet treats too.

There is a lovely cafe next door or please bring your own packed lunch or there are a variety of shops nearby.
