Machine Stitch Free Hand Embroidery with Diana Morrisons - 30th March 2024
8 in stock.
Heat Transfer Printing
1pm – 4 pm
We are so excited to be welcoming Diane from Diana Morrison's Designs to the studio.
If you attended the workshop on 9th March this is a great follow up course where the samples that you have created can be further developed through collage, applique and stitch. If you didn't attend the course then we can provide material for you to practice the techniques on.
This workshop builds on the skills developed in the first heat transfer workshop. You will need to bring some of your samples for further development but there will be time for you to create new samples as well if you wish.
Many textile artists like to develop their skills further through hand or machine stitching. You will learn how to use a special foot to create free machine stitching, which involves ‘drawing’ with the needle and thread. You will also be shown how to stabilise your samples to facilitate decorative stitching. You will also be shown how to layer fabric samples with methods of appliqué and add more focussed detail with watercolour pencils
During the session you will learn:
How to prepare your samples for stitch
Using watercolour pencils to add detail
Using a sewing machine to free machine outlines and other details
Using a sewing machine to create appliqué and fabric layers
You should come home with more detailed and developed finished samples.
This workshop is more suited to those with some experience of using a sewing machine and preferably those who want to develop their skills from workshop 1.
This is a great workshop to do with friends or on your own for a lovely day. You will gain knowledge and skills in a relaxed, fun and welcoming atmosphere.
All materials are included in the price.
Tea and coffee are provided throughout the morning, including decaf, with a selection of cakes to keep you going whilst you're creating.
For lunch why not visit our lovely cafe situated just next door which sells a variety of lunch options and, of course, coffee and cake. Or alternatively bring your own packed lunch.
