Heat Transfer Printing
10 am – 4 pm
We are so excited to be welcoming Diana from Diana Morrison's Designs to the studio. In the first of two workshops, which can be done separatley or together.
Heat transfer printing is an exciting and unusual way of printing your own fabrics using specialist dyes which are initially applied to papers and then transferred to fabric using a heat process to activate the dyes.
On the workshop you will spend time experimenting with a variety of techniques on various papers to create interesting textured backgrounds for prints. We will then progress to transferring the paper images to a variety of fabrics using resist methods such as lace, feathers, plant forms and cut paper stencils.
During the session you will learn:
Colouring with specialist dyes, pencils and crayons.
Cutting paper stencils
Selecting appropriate plant forms to act as resist objects
Printing using lace as a stencil
This workshop is suitable for beginners or those with some experience of fabric printing. You don’t need to be skilful at drawing
This is a great workshop to do with friends or on your own for a lovely day. You will gain knowledge and skills in a relaxed, fun and welcoming atmosphere.
If you wish you can take the follow up course on 30th March where these samples that you have created today can be further developed through collage, applique and stitch.
All materials are included in the price.
Tea and coffee are provided throughout the morning, including decaf, with a selection of cakes to keep you going whilst you're creating.
For lunch why not visit our lovely cafe situated just next door which sells a variety of lunch options and, of course, coffee and cake. Or alternatively bring your own packed lunch.
